It is full steam ahead at Manor Park Sailing Club where Lichfield Scout's paddlesport team are preparing to introduce more young people than ever to the delights of kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding.
7th Lichfield Group Scout Leader (Richard Taylor) says: "Thanks to a generous grant from Severn Trent Community fund we have new paddle boards, kayaks and additional equipment to train even more adult volunteers. This will enable us to run more sessions on the water for Scouts from 6 to 18 years old."
"We are also very grateful for the support from PalletForce who helped us to acquire a new container to safely store our extra equipment."
"Our volunteers spent the day performing safety checks on all our water craft and took part in some early season training on the water."
7th Lichfield Scout Group and a team of volunteers from other local Scout Groups provide taster sessions on the water for over a thousand young people every year. If you love paddlesport and would like to volunteer to be part of the team, you can contact us at gsl@7thlichfield.org.uk.
