The Group Trustee Board is a vital part of our Scout Group. This team of volunteers ensures that our Scout Group operates safely, legally, and efficiently, allowing our other volunteers to focus on delivering fun, engaging programmes that help young people gain skills for life.
Our trustees, who act collectively as charity trustees, play a central role in shaping the strategy, overseeing performance, and providing assurance that our group is managed responsibly. What Does the Trustee Board Do?
As a member of the Group Trustee Board, you will:
- Ensure Compliance: Oversee the legal and regulatory obligations of the group, ensuring we follow both The Scout Association’s rules and UK charity law.
- Manage Resources: Help manage our finances, property, and equipment, ensuring we have the resources needed to support a high-quality programme.
- Shape Strategy: Contribute to the development of the group’s strategic plans, ensuring we’re sustainable and delivering for our members.
- Support Volunteers: Work alongside the Group Scout Leader and other volunteers to ensure they have the support and resources they need to deliver life-changing experiences for young people.

Our trustees work together to:

- Ensure that young people have a voice in decision-making.
- Maintain transparency and confidentiality in all governance matters.
