Welcome

The Group, based in Ash Grove, Lichfield, is a thriving Group in Lichfield District. We have over 200 Young People and an enthusiastic group of adult volunteers that make it all happen.

The Group has two Squirrel Dreys, three Beaver Colonies, three Cub Packs and three Scout Troops. The group is open to any Young Person between the ages of 6 to 18.

Each section leads an active programme for the Young People who attend, indoors, outdoors, winter and summer. There is always something exciting happening at the 7th!

Group Chair (Carl Hall) stands down.

At the AGM on Sunday our long serving Chair (Carl Hall) stood down.

Carl has been a member of the 7th Lichfield since he was a Cub Scout. He has been a Cub Leader, Quarter Master, Family Camp organiser and of course our Chair.

His contribution to our group has been immeasurable. I would like to thank him personally for all of the support has given me since we both took up the reins in 2017 and everything that he has done for our Scout Group. He has retained a small role in the background, so you will still see him around.

I would like to formally welcome Greg Vanes as our new Chair of Trustees and Ian Robinson as our Chair of Operations. These are new roles as we have split the responsibilities of the old Group Chair role.

Our Treasurer (Tracy Godfrey) gave notice that she will be stepping down at the 2026 AGM. So we are on the lookout for a new Treasurer to shadow Tracy over the next year. If you are interested or you know someone who would like to help, please get in touch.

So… could you help us? None of our Leaders are paid – they are all volunteers. The majority of our Leaders have full time jobs and a family. We have both male and female Leaders of all ages. Leaders get involved because they want to have fun and make new friends.

You do not have to be a Leader. We have lots of roles away from leading the sections and a great team of adults that support the leaders in making it all happen. Why not join our Executive Committee, Social Team, help look after the kit, be a activity skills instructor, help maintain our hut or get involved in fundraising. We have a active watersports team who run canoeing, kayaking and raft building for our members and we also offer climbing and mountain walking opportunities.  There are lots of ways that you can get fit, get wet and get involved!
