Getting ready for the summer - new Paddleboards

In order to give our young people another adventurous activity, we have made a major investment in Paddleboards for the 2021 water season. The 7th has paid for 10 boards and, thanks to a generous donation by Sports England we have been able to boost this to 15 boards. This will enable us to run sessions for up to 12 young people at a time.

Today is a big day for us. We have taken delivery of the first of our new Paddleboards! There are still some more to come but it is very exciting to be able to see our plans coming together.

We can not touch them yet, not even to inflate them, because of lockdown - but we can now begin to really believe that we will be on the water soon.

The Paddleboards add to our existing fleet of Canadian Canoes, Kayaks and raft building kit.

In our last proper year (before this COVID madness) we ran well over 1000 water sessions at Manor Park. We run sessions for all of the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the 7th Lichfield but also for Explorers from all 4 Lichfield Explorer Units and for Beavers, Cubs and Scout from many other Lichfield groups and beyond.

We are always looking for new adult volunteers to join our Paddlesport team. If you have an enthusiasms for all things watery and you fancy getting involved with a friendly group that is dedicated to giving young people an experience of adventure on the water, please get in touch (just fill in the form on the right of this page and someone will get in touch with you). You do not need any previous experience - but it would be a good idea if you can swim!

Please see the Paddlesport section of our website for more details.

Dear Parents/Guardians

As and extra option for filling the lockdown home school days with your youngsters we thought we would provide a new badge idea each week. The badges we have selected work as a theme across all sections so if you have youngsters across a number of sections hopefully some of the task are similar. We have also adapted the suggested activities in some of the badges to try and make them more “lockdown friendly”.

On the 23rd April (Thursday this week) it is St. George's Day. Traditionally Scouts have always gathered to renew their Scout Promise. But this year, of course, it will be different as we cannot parade through the town and meet together in our Cathedral.

Instead, we thought that it would be great if the whole Group got together and joined in with two national initiatives that are taking place on Thursday.

Just because we cannot meet face-to-face at the moment does not mean that we cannot continue our Scouting adventure.
